The VIP took place to Saint-Priest (next to Lyons) during the first
weekend of July. This CP was organized by Popsy Team. In spite of the fact
that there are some atarists in Popsy Team (as Boub, Lupin or Momo), the VIP
didn't propose of contest demos Atari and, in the room, the PCs were
extensively majority (as in all present CPs, besides).
I prefer to be straightforward with you: this article is not a report of
it VIP. I was not indeed in the ambiance of the CP. It is necessary to say that
I had just finished exactly my military service, then I had the head elsewhere.
The day before, I had just celebrated my liberation and we put fire on Lyons
during all night long, it is for this reason that I only came Saturday.
Besides, as I came late, there was not any more room in the main room and I
have to get settled it nearby in a room.
By luck, Stabylo of the group The Removers came Saturday morning, him
also, and he got settled next to me with his/her/its Falcon. We installed a
small SCSI network between our two machines, it was too much good! The
third atarist having brought an Atari was Rajah Lone of Queen Meka, editor of
articles for Stimulus and programmer of Joe. Otherwise, there was Hello of
Sector One but he had a PC. Except old atarists(as Dbug of NeXT), there were
practically only PCs and some Amigas.
There was a good general ambiance to this CP. Seen the heat of the main
room, some went to bathe themselves in the municipal swimming pool that was no
far from here. The traditional gigantic screen presented demos and movies (of
which a version pirates Matrix in V.O. to the MPEG format). The fashion was to
the MPEG movies on CD-ROM. One could find what one wanted among participants,
of which "Starwars - The Phantom Menace" (besides one told me that it was not
so terrifying that that, and that the only excellent thing was the special
effect dissolute living). What surprise while seeing of competitions somewhat
strange as the contest of gulping down of Flanby or the contest of the one that
drink 1,5 liter of Coke the most quickly (taken back by Boub)!!! But to
part all that, I am not able to anything to tell you other since I was in a
secondary room. I didn't even see all presented productions...
It says, I found on the site of the Popsy Team lists it of winners. The
system of voting was similar enough the one of the Volcanic Parties. I specify
that votings have been posted of the following way: 3 points for a production
sequenced first, 2 points for the second and 1 point for the third.
Appointment the next year to the VIP 2!
